Last weekend, I went to Portland to visit Haze. Fortunately, he has blogged the trip and you can read all about it here:

Feng's trip to Portland, by Haze

Dig Haze's new web design, too. Pretty cool, huh?

All Is Coke. There are no other forms of refreshment. Drink Coke or die screaming.

I am unemployed right now. Many people ask me what I do all day. Here's a sample day for ya:

Andrea and I planned to go to the Aikido morning class, but we overslept. So, we decided to sleep some more. Around noon, we rolled out of bed and hopped down the street to Uncommon Grounds for breakfast. This was a dissapointing experience since the food was mediocre and our server seemed very annoyed that she had to lift a finger to get us anything. If I want someone to not get me coffee and juice, I can stay home and not get it myself, thanks.

After breakfast, we went back to my place and put up the hammock. Andrea climbed in for some serious napping and reading, while I dug out my trusty bokken and did sword practice. A few hours later, Andrea left to hang out with a friend and I climbed in the hammock and read for a while. The day was bright and pleasant and very nice indeed. Later on, my housemate Christine came home and we finally got her computer hooked up to the home network so she could access the DSL and printer and whatnot. It worked on the second try, and I was stunned.

I spent the rest of the afternoon working on the reprint of Talislanta, checking pages that I've edited to make sure they match the list of changes for the printer. After that, I decided to make a faux movie poster for my friend Tony's Pulp Heroes role playing series. I made some progress on it, and I think it's coming along rather well (my character is that cool James Dean looking fellow, in case you were wondering). I love making movie posters, for some reason.

Andrea came back around 9:30, with a DVD copy of Woody Allen's Manhattan. We watched it, and I was reminded how much I like this movie. It's sweet and funny and captures a lot of what's great about Allen's style and wit as a filmmaker. Andrea drifted off to sleep, and I stayed up until sunrise, playing a game on the computer (the addictive Grand Theft Auto 3), writing, and working on the Star Wars roleplaying campaign that I'm running now.

I climbed into bed around 4:30 AM, without a care in the world. Life is good, sometimes.

Reading: Christopher Priest, The Prestige
Listening to: Jesse Sykes and the Sweet Hereafter, Reckless Burning
Playing: Jedi Knight II (again), Ghost Recon

Holy shit. An update.
I'm only doing it so all of you good bloggers (you know who you are) will quit riding my ass.

Many things have happened since my last update. So many, in fact, that a comprehensive update would go beyond the scope of this humble blog. Here's a quick list:

Film Festival
Basically, it kinda sucked. There may have been good movies at SIFF this year, but I didn't see them. The book came out pretty good, considering the hellish conditions under which it was made. I'll probably have to write a more in-depth piece about this whole train-wreck of an organization.

Movies
Spiderman was pretty good, so there's one for me. Episode II was better than Episode I, but then again, so was Zardoz. I kinda liked it, but it wasn't good. Minority Report did not suck as much as I feared it would. I enjoyed it, despite two really terrible flaws in plotting (and common sense). The Sum of All Fears did suck as much as I feared it would, then went ahead and sucked even more, leaving only a few tons of available suckage for Men in Black II to use up. I haven't seen a sequel as brain-dead since Lethal Weapon 4.

Shows
Lots of great stuff in Seattle recently. Jesse Sykes is a new favorite -- if you listen to KEXP you know what I'm talking about. We saw her at the Crocodile, along with The Knitters, which was a blast, of course. Maktub did a kickass show at the Showbox a while back... their new album is mighty fine, too. Coming up real soon is The Breeders, which should be fun.

Um... now I have to go to bed and I haven't even scratched the surface. Oh well. I have a few things to say about Star Wars, Mike Mignola, and opinions, but those will have to wait. Thanks for reading my blog. You are cool.
